Runway Trends: Kim and Proper's Coco Dress
Summer is finally here, and with the warmer temperatures and sun-filled days, I always look forward to sourcing and trying out this year’s trends from New York’s fashion week. This year, two trends stood out to me most during that chilly February week here in New York.
Trend #1 - Graphic Stripes
The stripe story for Spring/Summer 16’s fashion week was all about movement, texture, patterns, prints, and life between the lines. Many designers featured bold, layered shades, and variations on a solid stripe to emulate a graphic tale.
In searching for a summer dress that would incorporate this runway trend, in a practical and work-appropriate way, I am thrilled to have found the Coco dress! With a neutral base color accented by a more feminine-feeling stripe (with a beautiful movement around the dress), and a sophisticated lace-looking detail filling in the wavy, horizontal lines, this dress is a summer stunner and perfect way to try out the graphic stripe trend.
Trend #2 The New Romantics
The feeling of summer love was very much alive on the runway during fashion week. Ruffles, pastels, cream, lace and sheer details made for many amorous pieces. I adore how the Coco dress exudes this romantic feel with a neutral motif, cream-colored fabric overlay that mimics a soft lace, and a slightly fluttered sleeve. It creates that feeling of warmth, love and beauty perfect for a romantic summer night.
